Director of People, Talent & Recruiting

We are looking for a detail-oriented, process-driven person with a "whatever it takes" attitude to be our first Director of People, Talent & Recruiting. This position will report directly to the CEO and will focus on scaling our team, driving business growth, and enabling our teammates to do the best work of their careers.  This is our first people operations hire, and is a hands-on position that will not have any direct reports for the first year.

Key Responsibilities

Organizational Processes

  • Recruiting:  Lead recruiting efforts, including job posts, interviewing processes and employer brand.  Our hiring priority is not about volume; rather, we want each and every hire to be well-aligned, successful and impactful for the employee and the company.
  • Onboarding and Offboarding: Develop and implement high-quality, standardized processes for both salaried and hourly team members.
  • Organizational Planning:  Implement a planning process that anticipates hiring needs as we grow while maintaining efficiency and effectiveness across the organization.  
  • Diversity and Inclusion:  Make sure we are reaching out to diverse talent pools and building a company that allows everyone to succeed.

Employee Experience

  • Talent Development:  Implement a strategy and approach for career paths, development, and retention for across groups.  Understand individuals’ objectives and goals, define and communicate expectations.  Manage the review and feedback processes.
  • Culture:  Develop an understanding of our culture, values and operating principles, and then help to codify and embed these in the day to day workings of the organization.

People Operations

  • Manage certain benefits programs administration and compliance; potentially manage payroll over time.
  • Participate in anticipating, addressing and resolving any employee relations challenges that may arise.
  • Develop a framework and provide insight with regard to compensation ranges within the company and at comparable companies, levels and roles.
     

Requirements

  • 8+ years of relevant experience, with a preference for: (a) 3-4+ years tenure at one or more companies, with demonstrated career progression; (b) focus on marketing, technology, design/creative and operations teams; and (c) experience at entrepreneurial companies with high performance culture.
  • A detailed-oriented, process-driven approach to the position
  • High level of personal maturity, EQ and empathy
  • Strong communication skills, including: (a) ability to effectively interview and vert candidates; and (b) handle direct conversations about sensitive topics
  • Ability to thrive in an unstructured and dynamic environment
  • Desire to work with a team of 25-100 people
  • Strong belief in BOTM's team and mission
