Associate, Inventory and Demand Planning

Book of the Month is seeking an Associate of Inventory & Demand Planning to join our Supply Chain and Operations team. This important role will work closely with members of our Supply Chain, Operations, and Finance teams to ensure that we meet member demand each cycle across all aspects of our Supply Chain. The successful candidate will be analytical, process- oriented, and collaborative. This is a unique opportunity to learn about and impact one of the most important aspects of a rapidly growing D2C ecommerce brand. 


About the Role

Demand Planning

  • Update and monitor our daily demand forecast across multiple monthly cycles simultaneously. 
  • Optimize planning tools, planning parameters, and KPIs to improve forecasting accuracy.
  • Work closely with the fulfillment and member services teams to ensure that our entire supply chain is appropriately staffed to service anticipated demand. 
  • Work closely with teams across the company to anticipate inventory and demand planning requirements for special projects, campaigns, and new product introductions. 

Inventory Management

  • Proactively monitor POs, inventory levels, forecast accuracy, and other relevant KPIs
  • Use the demand forecast to assess current inventory levels, develop projections for future orders, and clearly present your recommendations to the team.
  • Analyze and set item replenishment parameters based on product category, velocity, and lead time
  • Identify and resolve supply constraints by working with print vendors to formulate action plans to avert stock out

Order Management & Special Projects

  • Review order fulfillment progress daily and ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Own daily supply chain & operations processes and articulate recommendations to supply chain team highlighting Service, Inventory, Quality, and Cost impact and tradeoffs.
  • Conceptualize and develop reports that monitor operations across the supply chain and proactively identify existing and potential issues.
  • Work closely with engineering and product to improve the software we use to run our supply chain.


About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Math, or another analytical discipline.
  • 2-5 years of experience in an analytical or operational role.
  • Demonstrated analytical problem solving capabilities.  
  • Proven ability to identify, assess the severity, and mitigate operational issues.
  • Personally and professionally interested in technology, data, and systems.
  • Proven ability to teach yourself how to use software tools and interested in testing and implementing new tools. 
  • Strong Excel skills are a must.
