Analyst, Data and Analytics

At Bookspan, we believe that data helps us make better decisions, build better products, and provide better service to our customers. As a Data Analytics Engineer, you will help build, maintain, and improve our internal analytics tools and systems. This data platform will be your product and the users of the data, throughout our organization, will be your customers. As a result, you will work closely with other internal teams to build tools that enable them to make better data-driven decisions.

You Will:

  • Use SQL and server side scripting to extract data from a variety of different sources and load it into our AWS analytics database in an automated fashion.
  • Perform automated and manual ETL jobs to ensure data quality in the environment at all times.
  • Write queries to build summarized data cubes (stored in the analytics database) which can be accessed by business users through simple front-end tools, such as an Excel pivot tables or Tableau.
  • Work closely across all areas of the business to develop requirements for which fields, calculations, and visualizations are required for reporting and data-driven decision making needs.
  • Sift through various canonical and redundant data sources to identify the best source for each field required in the analytics database.
  • Develop documentation for the entire platform.
  • Work closely with the engineering team to select which tools will be used for the analytics platform.
  • Work collaboratively and independently to develop elegant solutions to a variety of challenging data and reporting problems on an ad-hoc basis.


  • 1-2 years of experience in a Data or Analytics role.
  • Mastery of SQL, MySQL, relational databases, and ETL techniques.
  • Fluency in Java, Python, or server-side JS.  
  • Experience with Github, AWS, Netsuite, JIRA, and Magento are a plus.
