Manager, Supply Chain & Operations

Book of the Month is seeking a Manager, Supply Chain & Operations to lead and contribute to our most important operational initiatives. At Book of the Month, SC&O is responsible for everything that happens from the moment the customer clicks “ship” until the box arrives safely on the doorstep -- and more. This role will flex across the business to collaborate on projects that optimize our supply chain, reduce costs, and help us deliver a delightful customer experience. The ideal candidate will be highly analytical, an excellent project manager, and someone who is eager to solve complex problems and make an impact across a variety of operational disciplines. 


You will...

  • Analyze and solve operational problems
    • Analyze business processes to identify key metrics and opportunities to improve  operations
    • Understand, quantify, and summarize the business impact of key SC&O decisions
    • Create and own tools to translate sales forecasts into demand plans and control inventory costs
    • Develop reporting and KPIs to measure efficiencies and effectiveness of inventory and demand planning
    • Summarize your work in concise, yet thorough written documents and plans 


  • Own operational business processes end-to-end
    • Proactively monitor order-to-delivery, POs, inventory levels, forecast accuracy, and other relevant KPIs
    • Use the demand forecast to assess current inventory levels, develop projections for future orders, and clearly present your recommendations to the team
    • Identify and resolve supply constraints by working with vendors to formulate action plans to avert stock out
    • Manage our cyclical membership renewals tasks and ensure the overall process runs smoothly


  • Lead projects and deliver results 
    • Develop detailed project plans to bring new opportunities to life 
    • Coordinate cross-functionally with product, engineering, finance, operations, and creative teams  to ensure projects are completed on time and error-free 
    • Anticipate and mitigate potential issues and risks
    • Ensure projects deliver intended outcomes for the business 


About you...

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5-10 years experience in an analytical role involving a combination of quantitative analysis, problem solving, and project management required. 
  • Knowledge in supply chain, procurement, quality, inventory planning and logistics.
  • eCommerce, consumer brands or product management is a plus.
  • Highly analytical, detail oriented, and resourceful.
  • Proactive decision-maker, leader and motivator.
  • Highly organized and disciplined with great attention to detail.
  • Strong Excel skills are a must.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Able to prioritize work effectively while juggling multiple tasks.
  • Thrives working in a fast-paced environment and ready to work hard. 
  • Interested in commercial fiction and ecommerce.
